Our Texas vacation adventure has us in our first home exchange. We had joined a program online called Seniors Home Exchange many years ago for a one time fee of $75.00 as a lifetime member, www.seniorshomeexchange.com , entering our home as a possible exchange for the members. Since then we have exchanged with folks in Australia, Tasmania, San Diego, Italy, Spain, and England, all with great success.
This trip will include 4 home exchanges in the lower part of Texas, hopefully one on the Baja, Mexico and one also in Hawaii, with us returning around the end of March. This program is the best for many reasons, first of all, there is no cost involved which is big, secondly, we get to meet great folks from all over the world and thirdly, isn't it so much better to stay in a home rather than in a hotel room? Yes, there is a question of trusting people in your home, but we have never found this a factor. It has worked well for us
Here are some pics of the lovely home we are staying in for about 2 weeks. Gary and Pam, our hosts, are on the Guadeloupe River in a large, comfortable home where we are settling in for a few weeks. They also own another home in town and call this one their Lake House, so we are here alone to enjoy our privacy. They are suggesting tons of restaurants and sites to see in this area..... what better way to see a local area than with local people. In Sept, we will then host them in our Pa home and suggest the same. Can we ask for anything more? Yes, there is more.....many couples even offer us a car, if available, to use for our vacationing time, as will the next 3 homes for us.
