We have once again uprooted to another beautiful home just below Corpus Christi on Bafflin Bay, Tx. Our hostess, Jan, has a number of homes called
Wild Horse Lodge which she usually rents out to families and fisherman but this time she is doing a free home exchange for us in return for us opening up our home to her this Fall in Pa. She wants to experience the changing of the leaves in the Northeast with a few friends. This home is a two bedroom, 2 bath with an amazing view of the bay.
Just look at this view here in Texas. It is probably a 75' wooden dock with a huge floodlight for night fishing for drum, flounder and trout. Across the bay is the King Ranch with 840,000 acres, the size of Rhode Island and the biggest ranch in Texas, I think.
The weather has been in the 60s but Paul was out on the end of the dock for an hour or so to grab the sun.
Below is a pic of the inside with its many windows overlooking the bay.
We are about 20 minutes away from the closest Walmart or HEB, a Texas supermarket and to get there we travel an 8 mile stretch of farm road with a 70 mile speed limit. Everytime you get into the car, it is a journey. :)
Corpus Christi is about 1 hour north with water everywhere and is spread out for miles, very different from northeast citites. While there we headed
out to the end to North Padre Island which also is very different from our coastal towns which are so built up, like Atlantic City, NJ. There is so much open space everywhere not developed. We headed north on the island to Port Arkansas where all the BIG oil ships come into the channel to Corpus. We found this hidden road to nowhere and at the end found the next picture. We were able to take our car ON THE BEACH for several miles on the hard sand. I wanted Paul to get the wheels wet in the water but he lacked adventure
